The all-new 2010 Honda Insight hybrid car utilizes the latest generation of Honda’s
Integrated Motor Assist™ (IMA®) hybrid technology and new, more cost-efficient production
methods. Defining a new stage in the evolution of hybrid technology, the new 2010
Insight provides hybrid customers with a new level of affordability, fun-to-drive
performance, and a U.S. EPA city/highway fuel-economy rating of 40/43 miles per
gallon.
The 2010 Insight will be launched at Honda dealers throughout the United States
in the beginning of April 2009 - and will be priced below the Civic Hybrid!

Honda engineers worked hard to design a hybrid that had optimal functionality and
peak aerodynamics. But they also thought a lot about how it would feel to drive
one.
The front of the car is strong and lean. The taller rear helps this 5-door hybrid
slip through the air seemingly without effort.
The Insight shares a family resemblance with the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle.
Sleek and sophisticated, the FCX Clarity commands attention wherever it goes.
The Insight is designed with a low center of gravity and a generous 5-passenger
cabin. Five-door access and folding rear seats meet the needs of an active lifestyle.
Details like the use of smaller internal components that allow for more cabin and
cargo space make the Insight family-friendly and versatile. Finally, it’s important
to note that the Insight was designed and built from the ground up to be a hybrid.
So when you drive around town in the new Insight (and you can, starting in spring
2009 in the U.S.), the value will make you look smarter, but it’s the distinct style
that will make you want to be seen.

2010 Honda Insight Technology
To help Insight owners realize the full benefits of Honda hybrid technology, the
Insight will feature a new interactive, driver-focused fuel economy enhancement
technology named the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist™). Eco Assist combines
multiple functions: A driver-activated ECON mode that optimizes control of the continuously
variable automatic transmission (CVT), engine and related powertrain components
to further improve vehicle fuel efficiency; a driver feedback function that uses
an innovative speedometer display with changing background colors to provide real-time
guidance to the driver on achieving higher fuel efficiency; and a unique fuel-economy
scoring function using a plant-leaf graphic to provide feedback to the driver on
current-trip driving efficiency and lifetime fuel-efficient driving performance.

All Insights are powered by an advanced 1.3-liter SOHC aluminum-alloy i-VTEC engine
and CVT, along with a new generation of Honda's IMA hybrid system for exceptional
fuel economy and fun-to-drive performance.
The Insight's IMA system incorporates a 10-kilowatt (13 hp) electric motor and a
compact Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) — recapturing and storing kinetic energy from
vehicle braking and deceleration and supplying additional power for acceleration
when needed. Packaging of the ultra-compact IMA battery and IPU in the vehicle’s
rear floor allows the enhanced utility of a 60/40 split and fold-down rear seat
back.
The Insight's IMA system has the capability to operate exclusively on electric power
in certain low- to mid-speed driving conditions. It also provides for cylinder deactivation
within the gasoline engine during deceleration and for engine shutoff when the vehicle
is stopped. With a 10.6-gallon fuel tank, the Insight delivers an estimated maximum
driving range in excess of 400 miles.

2010 Honda Insight Accessories
Accessories were not an afterthought in the design fo the new 2010 Honda Insight.
They were designed right along with the Insight. Honda's objective was to produce
accessories for the new Insight that met the same fit, finish, and functionality
standards for quality as does the Insight. You can also expect the accessories to
match exactly the factory colors.
As the highly anticipated new Insight hybrid was being designed, the team brainstormed
ideas for accessories and then considered how each one might affect mpg, price and
weight. In deciding what accessories to offer for the Insight, Honda engineers kept
in mind the goals of the Insight so as to not not contradict its affordability and
efficiency.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the accessories Honda is offering for the 2010 Insight.
We have done our best to include the cost of requred installation kits in the accessories
price.
As with all
new Honda vehicles, the 2010 Insight is prewired for all Honda Electronic
Systems Accessories. 3-year/36,000-mile warranty when installed at the time you
purchase a new Honda vehicle.
